Camden, NJ - The Camden Riversharks announced today that they
will hold open tryouts for the 2008 team on Sunday, April 6 from
8 am until noon at Campbell's Field.
Participants must be
a high school graduate, be at least 18 years of age or older and
should provide career statistics.
Players must report to
Campbell's Field at 8 a.m. for registration, and bring their own
wooden bat and baseball gloves. All attendees will be required to
sign a release form before trying out for the team. A $40 fee
will be charged to tryout.
The open tryouts will be
directed by Riversharks' manager Joe Ferguson and director of
baseball operations David Keller.
Last year's open
tryouts at Campbell's Field led to the signing of reliever Randy
Dicken, a Pennsylvania native, who was originally drafted in the
seventh round of the 2004 draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. Dicken
pitched for three seasons with Auburn (NYP) before undergoing arm
surgery in 2006. Dicken spent 2007 going between the Riversharks
and the Road Warriors, before eventually ending up with the
Bridgeport Bluefish in a trade.
"We look forward to
seeing the high caliber of talent the Atlantic League attracts
season after season," said Keller. "Hopefully, we're
able to find players who are ready to compete at the highest
level."
The Riversharks open the 2008 season on
Friday, April 25th at 7:05 p.m. against the York Revolution.
Individual and group tickets are on sale online at
www.riversharks.com or by calling 1-866-SHARKS-9.
