The Traverse City Beach Bums have announced the signing of catchers Patrick Perry and Ryan Kottke.

Perry most recently played with the Worcester Tornadoes of the CanAm League where he was named to the All-Star Team in 2007 after hitting .305 with 17 doubles, 7 home runs, 49 RBI, 47 runs, and 35 walks, good for a .374 on-base percentage. Perry is also very steady defensively, throwing out 22% of the runners who attempted to steal on him last summer.

"Perry is an exceptional player," said Beach Bums Director of Baseball Operations Jason Wuerfel. "He had a great year in Worcester last season and we think he has the opportunity to put up huge numbers in the Frontier League. He gives us a veteran presence behind the plate and in our lineup. We are very lucky to have him."

Perry played collegiately at Otero Junior College, where he was a teammate of Beach Bums' pitcher Jeff Williams for one season before moving on to Northern Colorado University. Perry was drafted out of Northern Colorado as a junior in the 7th round of the 2004 MLB draft after hitting .478 with 27 doubles, 13 home runs, and 74 RBI.

Perry spent the 2004 and 2005 seasons in the Red Sox organization before being signed by Worcester, where he spent 2006 and 2007.

Ryan Kottke, who calls Sterling Heights MI home in the off-season, played his college ball at Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky.
