Laredo, TX - The Laredo Broncos of the United League announced today that All-Star Outfielder Juan Senreiso’s contract has been purchased by the Washington Nationals of MLB. General Manager Jose Melendez has announced.. Senreiso is slated to report to the Washington Nationals spring training facility in Jupiter, Florida Senreiso played briefly for the Laredo Broncos in 2007 and hit .325 with 3 homeruns and 17 RBIS and 10 Stolen Bases in only 22 games.
Melendez emphasized that “We are about providing additional opportunities for talented prospects and sometimes it gives me more joy to see an individual succeed with an MLB organization. However, having him in Laredo would’ve been good for us since he was going to be a vital part of our 2008 team.”
Senreiso becomes the second ever Laredo Bronco to be purchased by a Major League Baseball organization and 22nd overall from the United League Baseball. “It is no secret that the United League has become a hot-bed for scouts and MLB organizations to find talent. Most of our players from ULB that have been purchased by an organization have done very well. This just goes to show that our level of baseball is very high.” Melendez stressed.
The Broncos and the other five ball clubs in the ULB – Amarillo Dillas, Edinburg Coyotes, Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (Harlingen) the Colts and the Alexandria, La. Aces – will begin their third year of independent baseball in mid-May. Each club will play 90 games this year.
